Just found out there is a point system for third edition. Will be using that. It will give you better options and choices. A pain I know...but like a doctor says..
It's a ll for the best.

2d10 + Ref. You can add Tactics/Infantry Skill to it. Combat Sense allows you to roll 3d10 and use the best two results.
Are we using a dice roller? If we are using our own dice my results are as follows:
10 + 6 + 1 = 17 + 3 (10 reroll) = 20 + 8 = 28 total
He also has Alertness Trait, so I'm not sure if you want to play that into Initiative too as he wouldn't have been caught off guard by the beast.

Certain times surprise of some type can occur. Those times I'll use the mighty GM powers for those.

OK can someone give me a quick review of what needs to be figured for a to-hit calculation. Roll + skill + REF or DEX or something Ok.... Simple Run Down. Each Skill has Linked Attributes (say like DEX & REF) you add those together + your Skill # and subtract from 20 to get your Target Number. Then you roll 2d10 and anything over your TN is considered your margin of success. The higher success the better. SMG is DEX + RFL. Skill list is on page 59 in MW 3rd Edition. Let me know if you have any other questions.
