Theodore “Brain” Alexander Roosevelt-Cameron: The leader of the 13th Mounted Infantry Brigade, the Superstitious Minds:
Background:
Born to a wealthy branch of the Cameron family, who were the rulers of the Star League, Teddy wanted for nothing, and was steeped in his family’s history growing up, though he constantly railed at and bucked the system. At age 10 his family purchased a battlemech for him in anticipation of him entering the SLDF, a Highlander.
Being sent to a prestigious military school when 11 years old, Teddy quickly showed an natural gift for strategy, and received early training in the military sciences. Shipping out to West Point military academy, as was the tradition for his family branch, his strategic genius showed in several exercises, allowing him to graduate at the top of his class.
Attending Officer Candidate School, he was temporarily assigned to the Quartermaster Command, where he developed some decent scrounging skills.
Assigned to the Elite 7th Royal Battlemech regiment, the Gary Owens, Theodore earned a reputation for taking down high profile periphery pirates, and nipping rebellions in the bud with diplomatic skill BEFORE they became rebellions.
He developed a sincere sympathy for the periphery nations, and spoke out, along with most of his unit at the brusque treatment they were receiving at the hands of the Star League, for this, he and his unit was reassigned to the 13th Infantry division as a punishment, serving under temporary command of the Rims Words Armed forces as a purgatory duty.
Then the Amaris coup happened a his unit was betrayed, and with the death of the senior staff, he suddenly found his self in command of the remains of the 13th, leading a retreat out of the Rim Worlds Republic to link with General Kerensky’s forces, when a catastrophic missjump in the monolith ferrying them catapulted them father then they intended to go, 300 years into the future over Solaris VII.
This caused a media sensation and already being famous in their day (Ted learned his tactics were taught in classrooms of military academies to this day), during which he developed many contacts.
Though he was offered a place in the Federated Common Wealth’s forces, he chose mercenary work, eschewing Outreach and Galetea for Herotitus as his hiring hall.
His first contract was for the Capellan Confederation (who tried to short change the unit at every turn) completing their contract regardless of their bad faith.
Disgusted with working for the Capellans, the unit’s next contract was with the Draconis Combine, who attempted the “Company Store” policy on them, though the 13th still completed their part of the bargain.
Signing on with Comstar’s Explorer Corps next, they enjoyed this employer much more, and served, several times more with them.
Their Next contracts were serving the Federated Commonwealth hunting bandits, where they were given excellent treatment.
Signing on with Virtue Cartographers next and hired due to their experience with the Comstar Explorer Corps, the 13th explored the deep periphery for two years, and enjoyed their work.
Their Latest ongoing contract as of 3060 is with Interstellar Expeditions, doing much the same work as for the Explorer Corps and Virtue Cartographers………
